Bay Area Heat Wave Week
September 26, 2017 | By admin
Get ready to feel the heat again, Bay Area! The weather forecasters expect temperatures rising to mid 80s in San Francisco and low 90s in the East Bay and South Bay today (Tuesday) until Thursday. Stay hydrated and stay cool. Watch out for symptoms of heat stress, especially for our senior friends and loved ones. Some of the warning signs of heat stress include nausea, rapid heartbeat, trouble with breathing, confusion or disorientation, dizziness, hot dry skin or cold clammy skin.
If you or someone you know feels weak or faint, go to a cool place and hydrate by drinking water. Call a doctor or 911 if there is no improvement. Here are some ways to keep it cool through this week’s heat wave:
- Stay somewhere cool
- Drink plenty of water
- Wear light clothing and hats
- Avoid being outside during the hottest hours (10am-4pm)
- Avoid strenuous activities and exercises
- Avoid foods rich in sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and even food that are high in proteins.
Hope you all have a great and safe week–stay cool, friends!
